~ Very Festive 4th of July......

~ A Visit from my Mother.....

I get very excited when I am expecting company.  I have a good reason to put the house in order! Catch up on the laundry, weed the gardens, make the beds, get the fancy dishes out and make some fun food!

The Daisy's are all bloomed.....

the flags are out.

Even Grizzly gets excited for company!

The back porch is ready!

My Mother was coming for the July 4th weekend.  The first place I took her was to the Dollar stores!  We were on a mission....we were looking for plastic Margarita glasses!

We found everything but plastic Margarita glasses!
We found bright orange dishes and flowers that did not require any care!

I also found work gloves.....all different colors!
Only $1.00 for each pair!
I was very excited!
I got 20 of them.....they are a seasonal item.

These are my normal boring black work gloves.
They cost $7.00 each!
I need light weight gloves with a good grib.

Next we went to Kohl's....Mom had the 30% off coupon!  She needed to buy something with her coupon.
We did not need anything!  No more clothes!  We just caught up with the laundry!

So she found some coffee for Tony!
We did not find the plastic Margarita glasses!

Sunday we drove down to Ocean City to see Jen and her kiddies!
No traffic for us on this Holiday weekend...they must have called ahead!

Hunter and I went to the beach with Jen and Mom took a walk on the boardwalk...
with Margarete and her brand new hat!

.....only Mom could get away with a hat like that!  Jenna too!

boys will be boys....

The weather, the water and the Company were Perfect!

We headed home to go to the next door neighbors Graduation party.  Again NO Holiday traffic for us!
The neighbors had all Polish Food......Hunter liked the Polish candy and Mom and Tony liked the Polish pickles!

Monday morning was 4th of July....so we had an extra special breakfast for our extra Special company!

We planned to put my bedroom in order and pack some stuff away in the attic......
but instead we headed to the Christmas Tree Shoppe!

Again NO 4th of July Holiday traffic...they must have known we were coming!
You would have thought we died and gone to some sort of Dollar Store Heaven!
I went one way and Mom went the other.  Mom would say "Look at this"....I told her just put it in the cart and we will decide what we will keep at the end!

I found a lot of colorful place mats to dress up my tables!  If I didn't have a little girl to dress up....at least I could dress up my tables!

All to go along with the Yellow Dishes, the Green Dishes, The Blue Dishes, the Red Dishes,  the Orange Dishes and of course the White Dishes!  OH what fun I can have!  Now I will need to make a fancy Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner to go along with the Dishes!

cute little candle holder.....only $1.29!

OH yes....we found the plastic Margarita glasses!

As we were checking out.....the people behind us were very annoyed with us!  We had too much stuff in our cart.....we were the New People!  We talked too long to the Retail Specialist!
( a new name we gave the cashier) we couldn't decide what to keep and what to leave behind.
Well the people parked next to our car.....and were they surprised when I offered to take their cart back to the coral.
Like my Mother always says....."It's Nice to be Nice!"

Their tune changed real quick.....they turned Nice!

We came home that night to a feast prepared by Tony!

.....the Guest were ready!
....the table was Dressed up!

.....the candles had their own color water!

....the snacks were ready!

.....and the feast was served!
baby back ribs, king crab legs, devil clams,
grilled eggplant, seasoned sweet potato's and corn on the cob.

...maybe next year we will have hamburgers and hot dogs!

The sunset was perfect!

The candles were lit......

we relaxed and read a little on the front porch.....

Mom told Hunter a story a few years back about how the Irish changed their names when they were coming over to America.  They had Help Wanted signs up for the Railroad.....Irish need not to apply.  Her Grandfather had to change his name from McGoldrick to Golden.

Neil Diamond.....Coming to Americaa!

Grizzly looked for the Lightning Bugs!

For dessert we kept it simple.....Brownie Sundae's in a shot glass!
Sundae Shooters!

Looking forward to our next trip to Ocean City!
